The “Nose Job” Just For Men

Male Rhinoplasty At The Rhinoplasty Clinic in New Jersey

Simply put, the success of a “nose job” depends on the skill, training, experience, and aesthetic eye of the surgeon you select. Nose surgery – known medically as rhinoplasty, requires an elite surgeon to produce the results you want. Dr. Godek has a passion for world-class rhinoplasty. He invites you to schedule a consultation either here, online, or by phone. Call our New Jersey office at (732) 281-1988 or reach us in Wall Township at (732) 375-0202.

Here Are The Differences

What is Male Rhinoplasty?

Just as no two human noses are alike, no two nose surgeries are alike. Each is unique. And because of gender-driven personal and cultural preferences and certain anatomical differences, rhinoplasties for men and women are not identical. Men tend to have broader and more prominent nasal bridges than women, and a man’s nasal tip is generally less elevated than a woman’s. Plus, men’s noses generally have thicker skin. Male Rhinoplasty, then, is revisional nose surgery designed specifically for men.

There’s Lots To Gain!

What are the benefits of Male Rhinoplasty?

Most men who undergo rhinoplasty report a boost in their appearance and self-confidence. Remember, too, that rhinoplasty can be performed to improve your breathing function. Additionally, with male rhinoplasty New Jersey patients that visit us can enhance their facial symmetry and balance and provide for a more masculinely attractive nose profile. Preferred surgical candidates are non-smokers who are in good general health. You may be disqualified if you have a bleeding disorder.

Let’s Make a Game Plan

Your Male Rhinoplasty Consultation

You and your surgeon must operate as a team. At our practice in New Jersey Male Rhinoplasty is a highly customized and personalized procedure. Be as forthcoming and specific in describing your goals as possible, but be realistic as well. Ask to see “before and after” pictures of previous patients. Come to your consultation with questions, and expect full and direct answers. He will pay particular attention to your:

  • Nose tip
  • Nose width
  • Facial shape
  • Facial structure
  • Nose tip rotation
  • Nasal bridge angle

Every Nose Surgery Is Unique

Your Male Rhinoplasty Procedure

Male Rhinoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning you can go home later on the same day of your surgery. Most rhinoplasties are completed within two hours. The procedure involves the surgical readjustment of bones and cartilage to construct the revisions you want. Your surgeon may harvest cartilage from your ear, from deep inside your nose, or, sometimes, even from your ribs to construct your new nasal shape. Since each surgery is unique, there is no standardized sequence or “road map” for rhinoplasty. At the end of the procedure, your surgeon will close your incisions with sutures and may insert stabilizing splints into your nose.

What You Can Expect

Male Rhinoplasty Results

Keep in mind that even small changes in the structure of your nose can have a major impact on your appearance. While final results are usually apparent three months following your male rhinoplasty surgery, your nose may take as much as a year to fully settle into its new position.

Maintaining Your Results

Male Rhinoplasty Recovery and Aftercare

Any splints and stitches used in your procedure are usually removed after about a week. You will have some bruising, swelling, and perhaps some light bleeding and drainage for up to three weeks. Most patients can go back to work or school in a week, but it’s important to avoid strenuous activity for a period as prescribed by your doctor.

Male Rhinoplasty Frequently Asked Questions

Your likelihood of needing revision is low, but there is a small chance you may need or desire additional surgery. Keep in mind that our noses naturally change in appearance as we age.

If your surgery provides medical health benefits, such as improved breathing function, your insurance may cover all or part of the costs. But if your male rhinoplasty is performed solely for cosmetic and aesthetic reasons, insurance will not pay.
